Hi there! I’m Sarah, a fully qualified dog trainer, hiking enthusiast, and all ’round animal lover.
When I signed up to participate in a rigorous 8 months of training for Certificate III in Dog Behaviour and Training with NDTF (Australia’s longest running and most comprehensive dog trainer certification program), I was asked why I wanted to completed the course. My answer was “I just love dogs”. There were a few queries that followed and I can understand why. Loads of people love dogs but wouldn’t sign up for this course while juggling a full time job.
I went on to explain that I want to know everything there is to know about dogs. I had been in my current job for 10 years and was starting to feel that I could be doing something different, something that made me want to jump out of bed in the morning. I also knew I wanted to get a dog of my very own and that I knew nothing about the process. But I knew I wanted to be able to train my new furry family member to the best of my ability.
Back in my high school years I volunteered at animal shelters and even Healesville Sanctuary so for a long time I knew I wanted to work with animals. Completing my certificate and being able to help people better understand and train their dogs is a dream come true. I couldn’t imagine a better job for me.
Here on my blog I want to help other dog lovers understand how to communicate with their pet and nurture a mutually beneficial relationship.
